a.frozen.venezia

Our frozen herd of K-Staters arrived in Venice around 6PM on Wednesday...to cold winds and a cruel mixture of sleet/rain/snow. We couldn't even see the water as our bus came across the lagoon on the bridge. By the time we parked, I was seriously considering refusing to get off the warm safety of the bus. Unfortunately, I was forced off and we started our thankfully brief walk to the hotel in the miserable weather....

After defrosting, several others convinced me to join them in trying to find a little restaurant for dinner with the promise of wine and seafood. I'm glad I did, as we got to see the frozen city at night, now that the downpour of slush had stopped. It was quite beautiful...

Imagine our surprise--and relief--when we woke to find that Venice had decided to cooperate, and to even start showing off...

Thus began 2 beautiful days in this dream-like, floating mystery of a city.
